About
Gothers Observatory is run by Darryl Sergison.
I have had a strong interest in astronomy and space science since an early age. This led to me completing my degree in Physics with Astronomy at the excellent Sheffield University, UK in 1999. In particular, lecturer Prof. David Hughes (a solar system specialist) inspired me to take a strong interest in solar system astronomy.
Since then I worked for 6 years as a physicist/systems engineer for a UK government lab specialising in space and high altitude science.
I have since worked for 5 years as secondary school science teacher, mostly specialising in teaching Physics and Electronics at GCSE and A-level. This is finishing in July 2011, however I am very keen to maintain my efforts in promoting space science and astronomy to children
The next step of the adventure begins in the autumn...
